Google will allow users to add additional protection to their Search History

Search now allows users to add an additional layer of verification and view their search history.

Google has added new tools to allow users to add additional protection to their Google Search History saved to their Google Account. The tech giant posted a blog post announcing the launch of a new tool that will provide additional protection for your Google Search history.

Search now allows users to add an additional layer of verification and view their search history in the My Activity section. Search history can be saved to an account if the Web Activity and App Activity settings are on. Google stated that this is done to "enable more personalized experiences across Google services."

My Activity

You can delete or view your Search history at any moment at My Activity. You might want to share your device so that others can't access it. We've now given you the ability to add extra protection to searches stored in your account," it said. Signing in allows users to request additional verification for My Activity.

Google is also rolling out a new feature that allows users to quickly delete the last 15 minutes of their saved Search history. This feature was introduced alongside several other improvements to Chrome earlier this year at Google's I/O 2021 conference. The feature is now available to all users. You can also use the new feature to quickly delete your saved Search history for up to 15 minutes with a single click. It is now available in the Google App for iOS and will be coming to the Android Google App later this year," it stated.

Users can select to have Google delete their Search history and other Web & App Activity automatically after three, 18, or 36 months. New accounts have an 18-month default auto-delete option. Users have the option to change their settings.
