New York (Dow Jones) – A chip manufacturer wants Intel to reclaim the top spot. The American firm stated that it will produce the greatest semiconductor in the world within four years.

According to CEO Pat Gelsinger's strategy, from 2021 to 2025, at least one new processor (CPU) would be introduced each year, based on transistor technology that improves year after year.

Intel has traditionally been the unquestioned computer leader. Gordon Moore, a co-founder, devised Moore's Law, which states that the complexity of integrated circuits doubles on a regular basis with the lowest cost of components. However, due to a succession of blunders and delays, the corporation has slipped behind its Asian competitors. Taiwan's TSMC and South Korea's Samsung have surpassed Intel in chip manufacture.

“We are boosting our innovation planning to ensure we are the market leader in processor performance by 2025,” Gelsinger added. “In February, the former chief technology officer returned to Intel as CEO.

The company has stated that the new CPU will be available for laptops this year and for servers in the first quarter of 2022. Intel has postponed the release of the new server chip for this year.

The next PC and server processors are expected in 2023. They are believed to have been manufactured using a new process known as "extreme ultraviolet lithography," which means the transistors are even thinner than the thickness of a human hair. Transistors are the building blocks of chips, and there are billions of them in modern laptops, computers, and servers.

Further advancements and advances in transistor design, according to Intel, are expected by 2025. Until then, new technology is known as "Intel 18A" should be employed. This technology is already being developed.

The new chip architecture is merely one component of Gelsinger's strategy to re-establish Intel's dominance. He had already started in March that he planned to invest billions of dollars in capacity expansion. Furthermore, the Wall Street Journal stated that Intel is in talks to acquire Globalfoundries.
